This week I’ve been running a new Orchestrator training for a client. But this one was different. It wasn’t the Advanced course, but a foundational one.
And there was a twist.
The client is running on an older tools release: 9.2.5.3. For an Orchestrator guy, that meant going back in time. It was a completely new challenge because many of the features I now take for granted in the latest tools releases were simply not available.
No Logic Extensions. No Workflows. No Stateful Orchestrations. No Widgets.
This forced me to get creative. I had to find workarounds—mostly using Groovy—to achieve exactly what the client needed without relying on the native low-code tools of the newer versions. It was a great technical puzzle, but it also served as the perfect excuse to show the team what they are missing and why upgrading their Tools Release is an absolute business priority.
Despite the limitations, we built some very cool stuff. My favorite? We engineered an automated message that constructed a clean HTML table directly inside the email body. Instead of forcing users to open a clunky attached CSV file, they now get the JDE data formatted beautifully right in their inbox.
But the technical side is just half the job. The real reward came from the feedback I received from one of the attendees. Seeing people not only understand a complex tool but genuinely enjoy the process and immediately see the business value is exactly why I love doing these corporate trainings.
On a different note, something pretty surreal happened this Monday.
During the latest JDE Talks session, I received a special mention regarding the Advanced Orchestrator trainings I’ve been running.

But the part that really caught my attention was when AJ Schifano (from Oracle) chimed in. He mentioned not only that he knew who I was, but that he actively follows my content on LinkedIn and finds it valuable.
That was a huge moment of pride for me. And I’m sharing this not just to brag, but to prove a point: Share your work.
Share your experiences, the challenges you solve in JDE, and the technical pain points you overcome. Putting your knowledge out there consistently opens doors you didn't even know existed.
By the way, the production of my complete "Zero to Hero" Orchestrator Video Course is officially underway. I’m pushing to get it finished and polished as soon as possible.
But, if your company can't wait and needs a live, customized training directly with me (whether it's foundational or advanced), hit reply to this email and let's talk.
Until next time,
Mario Garcia
(PS: Do you have a colleague struggling with manual processes in JDE? Forward them this email and invite them to subscribe to the list).
