Years ago, I worked for the biggest player in the industry. Massive sales, massive headaches. Planning was a mess, so we were always buying raw materials at premium prices just to survive.

Then came the new Purchasing Manager. A total "crack".

In his first negotiations, he saved the company more money than his entire annual salary. Just like that.

But here is the irony. He had secured 5,000 new standard costs. 5,000 opportunities to increase our margin. But those prices lived in his head and on paper. Not in JDE.

Until we updated the P4105, we were still manufacturing with the old logic. We were bleeding potential profit because our fingers couldn't type as fast as he could negotiate.
